Sergeant Gear Manufacturing

Sergeant Gear, also known as Herringbone Gear or Arrow Gear, is a helical gear. It takes its name from the fact that the helical directions of the teeth on it resemble the sergeant's coat of arms. Sergeant Gear manufacturing is generally created by bringing two helical gears back to back. Axial loads on the teeth mutually balance each other and therefore do not create axial load on the shaft. Sergeant gears are used to transfer large radial loads. Sergeant gear manufacturing, herringbone gear manufacturing is a type of gear production that requires expertise.

Sergeant gears are manufactured as a whole of two helical gears on the same axis. If one of these gears is opened as right helix, the other is opened as left helix. Thus, axial forces, which are the biggest disadvantage of helical gears, balance each other and axial force transfer to the shaft and bearings is eliminated. These helical teeth are not overlapped in the middle, but have a small channel between them.
