Worm Gear Manufacturing

The worm screw got its name because it resembles other screws. It is especially compared to a trapezoidal screw. The only difference is that the pitch of the worm screw is in 'Module', as we know from milling screw channels. Its unique feature is the co-operation feature between the tooth of the wheel, which is a helical gear, and the screw. For this reason, the contact is linear.

Its load carrying ability is much higher than spiral gear wheels. When the number of teeth of the worm screw is mentioned, the number of blades should come to mind. The helix angle of the worm screw can be right or left helix depending on the location where it will work. As the number of nozzles increases, efficiency increases; the number of nozzles can be between 1 and 8. Having a high number of screw blades increases efficiency and turns high speeds into small speeds. Since all the blades of the screw constantly rub against each tooth of the wheel, they wear out more quickly.

For this reason, the screw tool is made of steel and used after being hardened and ground. Depending on the force to be operated and transmitted, screws can be made as a single piece with the shaft, or the shaft and screw can be produced separately and joined together with a wedge. It should be known that in the worm screw and reciprocating gear system, the worm screw will be used as the one that turns (turns) and the reciprocating gear will be used as the one that is rotated (turned). The opposite situation is not possible.
